Hymns for Her - Our Daily Devotion in Song
Our Marian Devotion for today focuses on a beautiful Hymn to Mary.
Singing hymns to her is like praying twice, and what better way to show our devotion to the Blessed Mother than through glorious hymns and song!
Bringing Flowers to the Rarest is just one of many songs in honor of Our Lady. I hope you enjoy learning and singing this one as much as we do!
Many blessings in your day, in this Merry Month of May!
Bring Flowers to the Rarest - A Hymn for Mary (Listen along here)
Refrain:
O Mary we crown thee with blossoms today!
Queen of the Angels and Queen of the May.
O Mary we crown thee with blossoms today,
Queen of the Angels and Queen of the May.
Bring flowers of the rarest
bring blossoms the fairest,
from garden and woodland and hillside and dale;
our full hearts are swelling,
our glad voices telling
the praise of the loveliest flower of the vale!
Refrain
Their lady they name thee,
Their mistress proclaim thee,
Ah, grant that thy children on earth be as true
as long as the bowers
are radiant with flowers,
as long as the azure shall keep its bright hue
Refrain
Sing gaily in chorus;
the bright angels o'er us
re-echo the strains we begin upon earth;
their harps are repeating
the notes of our greeting,
for Mary herself is the cause of our mirth
Refrain

I had never heard this song before attending our homeschool group's May Crowning last year. I had wanted to find it so I could learn it, but couldn't remember the name! So thank you for this! :)
