We managed a short listening walk last week as our first attempt at the Outdoor Hour Challenge. I can't say that we were outdoors for an hour this time, alas it's the rainy season (and I don't mean tropical rain).
In our listening walk we heard many birds, saw many birds, and a few squirrels. Our yard here is very small, and mostly shrubs and a pathetic excuse for a grass area, sigh. It's a far cry from our previous acreage, sniff, but we're making the most of it!

Violet is the only one who managed a sketch for her journal:
I like how she watercolored it afterward. Not bad for a rainy past week, here's hoping for some sunshine soon :)
Please visit the Handbook of Nature Study Blog to follow along if you would like! Blessings in your days!

Waiting for the sun as well. It is really getting to me. :)
Wonderful drawing.

The rain does start to get to you after a while, doesn't it? When we lived in Portland, we would sometimes drive east just to get some sunshine. I loved the landscape out there, all the book stores, the coffee, etc., but the rain was a bit tough.

We are still praying for rain here in the TX hill country. BTW...love Violet's watercolor!

Nice drawing of the squirrel. Meredith, I think it was you who motivated me to check out the Outdoor Hour Challenges, but I've decided to try the Winter Wednesdays instead. It's really snowy/icy over here in MA.

I love the Outdoor Hour stuff. And I love how you implemented it! Violet's watercolor is lovely, too!
I would be sad to give up our property (though I wish we could pick it up and move it about an hour closer to dh's work ...) It's a big loss, and I can certainly imagine how hard that must be. Way to make the most of what you've got, just the same!

Marianna and I just completed our first Outdoor Hour this past week. It was pretty fun! Have you had a chance to head out for anymore yourselves? We're pretty excited about it all. :)
