Emily Dickinson remains at the top of my favorite poets list, so here's another for today's roundup! Hosted by Wild Rose Reader, please visit for more great poetry selections!
I like to see it lap the Miles-
And lick the Valleys up-
And stop to feed istself at Tanks-
And then - prodigious step
Around a Pile of Mountains-
And supercilious peer
In Shanties - by the sides of Roads-
Ad then a Quarry pare
To fit its Ribs
And crawl between
Complaining all the while
In horrid - hooting stanza-
Then chase itself down Hill-
And neigh like Boanerges-
Then - punctual as a Star
Stop - docile and omnipotent
At its own stable door-
c. 1862
I had to parse this for a college Lit class, it's funny to see all my scribbled notes in the side of the text, I still know this one by heart!
Many blessings in your day, Happy Friday!

Soul sister! I've always loved Dickinson and thought she received rather short shrift for too long. Her work has a depth that many miss because of its look of simplicity.
