The company of the upright people edifies, while bad companions usually debase one (Epistle, Eph. 5:1-9). By His answer, Jesus does not deny the praises addressed to His Mother, but He confirms that, before God, he who fulfills His will is the greatest. The Blessed Mother is therefore great for the very reason that she is the Mother of God, and, above all, because more than all other creatures she was submissive to His will. (Gospel, Luke 11:14-28).
