What a great year! I can honestly say, as I said a post or so ago, that this could have been our best year yet. But there's still so many more to come, so I'm not really willing to quantify.
Here is a run down of what went really smoothly and was enjoyed and relished by the masses.
Violet ~
#1 American History and Literature studies following the MODG 9th grade syllabus (loosely) 5 stars Hands down, favorite for us both this year! Lots of great reading and discussions.
Matthias ~
#1 Ancient Greek and Roman History also loosely following the MODG 7th grade syllabus 4 stars We had a good time with this historical period and read some books we hadn't read before. Best book was Augustus Caersar's World by Genevieve Foster. For his end of year paper Matthias chose to craft two poems comparing his favorite and least favorite ruler of the Roman Empire. Augustus was his favorite and Nero his least, very funny and engaging poetry this boy writes :)
Seamus ~
#1 Fractions 1 and Decimals 1 from Math Mammoth 5 stars We love this math, so fun and easy to follow. He is four grades ahead in math thanks to Mammoth!!
He also really enjoyed all our Saints read alouds from this year: St. Francis of Assisi, St. Anthony and the Christ Child, and St. Dominic and the Rosary.
Playing the Cello and taking lessons from his amazing teacher are ranked up at the top as well. He has progressed monumentally this year with his music and is truly blessed with a gift.
Sean-Paul ~
#1 Science ~ He's a naturalist, what can I say :) His favorite was sketching with me in the mornings and helping me refill the bird feeders.
I can't believe that his Kindergarten year is already over, it went by so fast. He is my least structured learner, so I imagine 1st grade will be very much like Kindergarten, but with a little more depth :)
How was your school year? Do you do "school years" with a break for summer, or just keep going at a steady pace throughout the year?? I will say we are enjoying the beginnings of our break and I am seeing very large book stacks around the house, so you know what we'll be doing...
Happy Summer!!!

Hi Meredith,
Your year sounds great! We loved MODG for high school, too.
I still keep some records during the summer but we do things very differently -- more trips, more outdoors time and more catching up with the lives of the college age kids.

I love Violet's 'reading spot'! She is a beautiful young lady, Meredith! All your children are soooooooo PRECIOUS!!!
