As inspired by Amanda Blake Soule in her lovely book The Creative Family, one of our new years goals was to begin Family Craft Nights! This past weekend we got our act together and voila, had some Sculpey fun! It was my personal preference because really anyone can make just about anything with sculpey and so left the pressure off anyone to perform any crafting miracles on the first attmept :)
First we distributed the materials:
Then we all got busy rolling and shaping and creating! It was delightful to see the different ideas come to take shape. A little sampling of who made what:
:: Sean-Paul's creations :: snake, dragon, dice (by mommy) And yes, he's getting glasses next week!
:: Cute giraffe by Violet, her theme was Zoo Animals
:: Seamus' Flight Duck, he also made a shark and a cheetah!
:: Matthias' Cheetah
Here is the tray just after they all baked: (ignore unscoured cookie sheet please)
Oh and last but not least, Daddy's Cello ::
Somehow my creations did not make the photo shoot, I was too busy shooting I guess. If you look on the tray I made a little Marian statue, although it doesn't really stand up, a penguin and a little brown bear. Oh and the pink dice for Sean-Paul, he loved it, and "mommy it really works!!"
So there you have it!! Family Craft Night was a huge success on the "Fun-Meter" everyone enjoyed it and had fun creating! Won't you give it a try???
Many blessings in all that you create and do!!
