In case you've never ventured to this great site, check out the Bravewriter Lifestyle. It's a wonderful tour of the writing lifestyle and how to incorporate writing into your everyday activities, journaling, poetry, or whatever suits your fancy really! There are so many ideas that I will not mention them all here, but I lingered at this nice blog to read a students work and about the process itself. We like to do the Friday Freewrites. Here is Violet's freewrite from this past week:
Leading Thought/Question: "If you were going to explore Antarctica what would you bring with you to survive the elements?"
Today I am going to go to Antarctica to explore. I am going to bring a very warm sleeping bag and my pillow. I will bring all my long johns and two pairs of snow pants and a fur coat. I will wear all my wool socks, and fur boots. I will take a lantern and lots of food and water. I will get tools so I can build myself an igloo to live in. I would take my journal so I can write about what I see. I will take a boat so I can watch seals and penguins and walruses. And last of all I would take lots, and lots of firewood. I had a very good time in Antarctica. Violet (9)
(Little does she know she is going to have to carry all that stuff!) Not bad for a freewrite. We'll share more as we go along!
