September Reading

I've been on a Betsy-Tacy kick this month, catching up on some summer reading that slipped by until now. It's still kind of Indian Summer here. At least one can wish ;-)

 

I previously read Betsy and the Great World and Betsy's Wedding after only having read the very first Betsy-Tacy book. I know, totally lame reading out of order, but Violet assured me it wouldn't really matter and those last ones were very enjoyable at the time :)

So now I've gone back and read the second (Besty, Tacy & Tib), the third (Besty-Tacy Go Over the Big Hill), the fourth (Betsy and Tacy Go Downtown) and the fifth & sixth in this delightful edition (Heaven to Betsy/Betsy In Spite of Herself). Currently I am reading Betsy Was a Junior. Such fun they had, and I can assure you, no highschool today could compete with Deep Valley High!

Sigh....why couldn't we all live during the Betsy-Tacy years???? Also makes me wish I had had sisters, and that Violet, too had a sister or two...

Anyhoo, some great reading and if you've a chance at the audio version of the first Betsy and Tacy, it is excellent, we love the narrator! 

Other reading comprised snippets of other stuff, like: The Power of Love by Fulton Sheen, The Thrive Diet by Brendan Brazier (he's got some really good ideas for wellness and whole foods eating). That's about it. Immersed in the kids school reading has left little time for my own except right before I collapse go to sleep ;-)

• Russian Winter
• Charlotte Fairlie
• A Song for Summer by Eva Ibbotson (pre-reading for Violet)
• The Fool's Girl by Celia Rees (read about at Semicolon, love her reviews by the way, they are always "spot on")
• Bryan's Return (sequel to Hatchet)

Maybe I'll get through these before the end of the year...then again, maybe I won't.
