My dear father is coming today to visit for the week. My mother decided not to come this time as she dislikes travel by air anymore. The children are SO excited for grandpa to arrive this evening and we have been making preparations for his visit since the weekend.
We will have lots to do outdoors with the quantity of snow we have and we are getting more today. We will cross country ski, down hill ski, build snow forts, take snowy nature walks, do some bird watching, have stories by the crackling fire, prayerful evening rosaries, play games and so much more! I know he will want me to bake a batch of my sinful brownies (I'll post this later!).
Here is Mathias's (7) journal entry for this morning:
it's snowing! and I would like to tell you that I'm glad! I'm glad because it will probably be good on the mountain tomorrow when we go skiing! grandpa is coming skiing with us!
We will include Grandpa in all our studies this week, as he is a seasoned naturalist and a true man of God, he will brighten our days with his mere presence. Tea time will be extra special this week. It will be a joy to have him as our special visitor and I hope to help the children practice their virtues of charity and hospitality while he is here, it will not be difficult. I thank God every day for my dear father, as he is the reason I am a Catholic from birth! St. Joseph, patron of fathers, pray for us!
